As a BBG involved in BBYO, I have come to appreciate the unique significance of the colors red and blue in our sorority and fraternity. These colors represent the separate but equally important branches of BBYO, the B’nai B’rith Girls (BBG) for BBGs and the Aleph Zadik Aleph (AZA) for Alephs. The color red is associated with BBG, while blue is associated with AZA.

In our sorority, the color red represents the passion that we BBGs have for our organization and our dedication to empowering and supporting young women. We hold our red BBG book with pride, knowing that we are part of a sisterhood that values leadership, service, and advocacy. Red also symbolizes the love that we have for one another as members of the BBG community. Whether we are attending chapter meetings, regional conventions, or international events, we are united in our shared values and commitment to making a positive difference in the world.

On the other hand, blue is often associated with trust, loyalty, and wisdom. In our fraternity, AZA, blue represents the trust that they Alephs have in one another as brothers and the loyalty that they have to their fellow members and the organization as a whole. They hold their blue AZA book with pride, knowing that they are part of a brotherhood that values tradition, brotherhood, and leadership. Blue also symbolizes the wisdom that they gain through their experiences in AZA, as they learn from one another and work together to create a better future

Despite the separate colors, BBGs and Alephs share a common goal of empowering Jewish youth and creating strong leaders for the future. Both organizations provide opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, and community service. Together, we form a powerful force for positive change in the world, and we are proud to represent our sorority and fraternity with the colors of red and blue.
